“And suddenly a woman who had a flow of blood for twelve years came from behind and touched the hem of His garment. For she said to herself, ‘If only I may touch His garment, I shall be made well.’ But Jesus turned around, and when He saw her He said, ‘Be of good cheer, daughter; your faith has made you well.’ And the woman was made well from that hour.”
Matthew 9:20–22
“And there was a woman who had had a discharge of blood for twelve years, and though she had spent all her living on physicians, she could not be healed by anyone. She came up behind Him and touched the fringe of His garment, and immediately her discharge of blood ceased. And Jesus said, ‘Who was it that touched Me?’ When all denied it, Peter said, ‘Master, the crowds surround You and are pressing in on You!’ But Jesus said, ‘Someone touched Me, for I perceive that power has gone out from Me.’ And when the woman saw that she was not hidden, she came trembling, and falling down before Him, declared in the presence of all the people why she had touched Him, and how she had been immediately healed. And He said to her, ‘Daughter, your faith has made you well; go in peace.’”
Luke 8:43–48
I love both accounts. She pushed her way through. She didn’t care who was around. She humbly knew she needed just one touch. She embraced the promise that the Messiah would have healing in His wings (Malachi 4:2). She looked upon Yeshua and believed that He was who He claimed to be. When she touched the hem of His garment, it was the same as touching Him. He even felt power go out from Him. She came to the right person in the right manner and received what she was seeking. By her faith she was healed instantly. Yeshua responded, saying, “Your faith has made you well.”
“When they had crossed over, they came to the land of Gennesaret and anchored there. And when they came out of the boat, immediately the people recognized Him, ran through that whole surrounding region, and began to carry about on beds those who were sick to wherever they heard He was. Wherever He entered—into villages, cities, or the countryside—they laid the sick in the marketplaces, and begged Him that they might just touch the hem of His garment. And as many as touched Him were made well.”
Mark 6:53–56
Do we have faith like this? So much faith that with one touch of His hem we could be healed instantly? These are not just stories of old. God is the same yesterday, today, and forever. He does not change! Believe for it.
